Almost at the end

A quick post, while I have a chance at the computer.

We all have been working more and more as our time here comes to a close. I have 12 more days left. Pray that in this last week, that I get a chance to spend a little time with Christina.. so we have a chance to reflect on the summer. Our time has been limited together these last weeks.
Pray that Andrew, Britta, and I finish out strong and get a chance to recoop and process our summers before heading back to school.
Pray for the future of Mission: Cedar Point. Ben and I have done a lot of dreaming to how it could all play out. Pray that we seek God's guidance and wisdom through all of it.

Must be off for now.. thank you for continually praying.

An eventful Tuesday

Andrew and I had a Beach Reach like, experience this Tuesday.
I was sitting outside the laundry house and this girl asked to use my phone.. I let her. She was calling taxi services. They were all to expensive for her. She had gotten fired and was supposed to have been out of there. Andrew and I were going to go into town soon anyway, so I offered Jessica a ride. Well, an hour or so later we were taking her to a shelter here in Sandusky. Her home life in Michigan right now isn't the greatest and nobody was able to pick her up from Cedar Point. So it was us with her and all her stuff for a good 15 min. car ride to find this shelter. A humbling experience for both Andrew and me.
Pray for Jessica, as she is in a rough place in her life. Pray that she may remember us and try to seek out why we were so loving and different.

Three of Andrew's lifeguard friends from Ukraine came Tuesday night. They were really appreciative of the free food, and were very focused and interested in the lesson. Pray they are able to come again and that through these last few weeks they may really seek God.

Andrew is now officially a supervisor. This allows him to interact with his crew more. Pray that this new position allows him to deeper develop the relationships he has already formed.

I got to talk to Christina about baptism Tuesday night. Her dad was baptized in the spring, and she had questions. I got to explain baptism and found verses for her to look up. Pray that she continues to ask questions and that God continues to speak through me.

As we get closer to the end, work gets tougher and tougher. Pray that we have strength and energy to finish out these last weeks.

Thursday, July 13

Hey there.

It seems like the time is flying by. We have a little over a month left. Pray for the relationships that Andrew, Britta, and I have formed, that they may grow stronger until the end and that God may leave a lasting impact on their hearts.

I am getting very worn down. Pray that I have the energy and find the strength in God to continue to be mindful of God's presence and invest in others lives.

Christina and I are coming home tomorrow.. pray for our conversation in the car. Every time we hang out, she continues to ask questions and we seem to get deeper and deeper. Pray that the Holy Spirit continues to work in her heart, that she not only wants to gain knowledge, but wants to seek Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Mid summer update....

Things are going alright. Coming into this, nobody knew what to expect or where God would take us and we're still on for the ride (haha) taking every day and week at a time, trying to listen and obey to what God wants us to do.

Work schedules continue to be a difficult thing to get people together. Pray that I be patient with this.

Andrew is getting promoted to "team leader" .. which means he will have much more time to talk with people. Pray that he may be able to use this new position to invest in people's lives and show them God's love.

I have been having a rough time at work. Everything is going well with the job, but I always feel tense, and like there is a burden on me at work. I try to keep a positive, upbeat attitutude but it's difficult at times. So.. I don't know how you want to pray for that one..

I love Christina... She is such an encouragement. We continue to hang out regularly. We just have a great time and conversation seems to lead towards faith etc. almost every time. She's really seeking. Pray that our relationship continues to build and that the Holy Spirit convicts her to seek a relationship with Jesus.

Andrew will be teaching our lessons on Tuesday nights. Pray that he has time to prepare and that everyone will be receptive to his message and will want to seek God out further through it.

Thank you for all your prayers and support!

Sunday, May 28

Christina and I continue to hang out frequently. We both just finished reading the DaVinci Code. This has been topic of some conversations. She asked me if I believed it or not. I somehow got on the topic of Lee Strobel and the Case for Christ and Case for Faith. .. she seemed interested in reading them. Pray that God allows us to continue to grow in our relationship and that I will be humble, listen, and follow God.

Britta, Andrew, and Rachel will be arriving this week. I am very excited. Pray for the transition to life at CP goes smoothly and they are able to establish a firm foundation for the rest of the summer here.

I ran into a friend I went to high school with, Micah, who is working at CP. We both didn't know we were working there. He goes to a small Christian college and is craving fellowship. Pray that he is able to join us, and that through fellowship he is able to stay strong and reach out to others.

Saturday, May 20

I have been able to hang out with Christina a few times, and I will lots more throughout the summer. She knows what we're all about. Pray that she may be empty and that she seeks Christ. Pray that we may be there at those times to answer her questions.

Jess is hanging out with our co-workers a lot. Pray that through relationship building, they may see God shining through Jess, and that her heart is open to speak God's truth.

I have been lacking in energy. Pray for me, that I am able to rest and keep my health up, and not miss opportunities to invest in others lives.

Jesus would go to a gay bar

Ah... the library at last.

So, a few things that have happened in the last days.

Jess and I went to Louie's (a hole in the wall bar that's within walking distance of the dorms. Many employees go there to drink away their paychecks. You can't buy alcohol if you are underage, but you can have a friend buy and pass it to you).
A lot of our co-workers were there and we got to talk and dance with them.

I got to go out to eat with girl from work, Jennifer. We had a really good conversation about relationships. Pray that God protects her from any guy that is not going to respect her for who she is (just wants to sleep with her).

Quote of last night:
"Jesus would go to a gay bar." haha :) .... I didn't feel the greatest, so I didn't go, but Jessica went with a bunch of our co-workers to Club X, the local gay bar.
I haven't heard how it went yet, but I'm sure it was interesting and fun.

Pray that those going to Louie's and Club X find that they are empty after going and that there is something out there that will fill them up. Pray that we will be there at those moments to direct them toward Christ.

Our first meeting and meal is tonight at the church. I don't know who all is going to be there. Pray that conversation is directed, that I may have wisdom on what we should do (a Bible study, just hanging out, etc. ), and that we just have a good time hanging out, getting to know eachother better.

Friday, May 12

Thank God for us having great roomates, Steph and Elaine.
Pray for continued growth in our relationships as we get to spend more time with them.

Wednesday, May 10

Yay for the library!

Work is going well. I will finish up training Friday night and be on the floor serving Saturday afternoon. Jess and I are both sore and tired, getting used to being on our feet all the time and not eating much.

Christina and Andy will be arriving Sunday. Pray for safe travel and smooth transition into Cedar Point.

The back of the house supervisor, Don, pulled me aside to talk to me yesterday. Don is the man. Need to find something, Don knows where to find it. He is probably in his upper 30s, works 12-14 hour days, 6 days a week here. He asked me questions about him and dating; if he looked worn out, etc. I can tell he is really down. We only got a minute or so to talk, and I know he wants to talk more.
Pray that God opens a time for us to talk - soon, whether that be at work or off work. Pray that our conversation be God filled, and that I am able to give him comfort and support.

1st day of work

Ok. Hopefully I'll get a little time here.

Praise God for all the encouraging and supportive people that He's put in my life!
Thanks to everyone.

First Christian church is going to be an awesome resource for us. Bob has two colleged aged kids and there are a few others in the congregation that are excited to meet us and hopefully hang out with us on Tuesday nights.

Jess and I will start are meetings next Tuesday, as long as we can both get work off.

The plan is for all 6 of us to have Tuesdays off. We will have time to grow together as a group. We'll take trips to Meijer and the library. Then head to the church for a Bible study, worship, and some sort of meal. We would invite others to come to our meal in the evening and hang out afterward.

Christina - some know her story. I had a class with her this semester, she came to a few His House meetings. She's not a Christian, but very open to hearing and learning about all faiths.
I found out one of the last weeks of class that she just happens to be working at Cedar Point, as a server at TGIFriday's on the Beach - where Jess and I work. I talked to her Saturday. She is officially coming.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will open her heart. Pray that Jess and I jump on opportunities to invest in her life.

Pray for strenth for Jess and I. We'll be working longggg hours with little break and food. We'll have sore everything. Pray that this not be a distraction to investing in others lives.

Peace out for now :)

Sunday, May 7

In Ohio

It's officially begun. Jess and I processed and moved in today. We got to meet with Bob. Work starts for both of us at 10 am tomorrow.

We have two roomates for now, Elaine and Steph. We will be moving to the dorms on point once they are open and then will have Jess's sister Heather and friend Megan as roomates.

The talk with Bob went well.

Well... I'm getting kicked off the computer now.

So.. pray for consistency in our work schedules.. it tends to be unorganized and crazy at the beginning of the season. We really don't want any problems with gettting Tuesdays off.

Alright. i'll update when I can.

Saturday, May 6

It's about to begin

Pray for safe travel.
I will be heading to Jessica's today and we will be arriving at Cedar Point Sunday morning.

I will be meeting with Bob, the pastor of First Christian Church in Sandusky, on Sunday evening. Pray that our conversation is fruitful and that we are able to be clear about our vision and goals for the summer.

Friday, May 5

Keeping you posted.

Welcome all. Thanks for keeping Mission: Cedar Point in your prayers.

We will be updating you throughout the summer through this blog.
